I am invited to present at OISE's Masters in Teaching Program's second annual Environmental and Sustainability Education (ESE) conference. This one day conference seeks to help provide our graduate students with an introduction to ideas and strategies for implementing ESE in their own classrooms in future.
This conference is intended to be beginner-friendly, with an introduction to the theoretical foundations of work in this field yet with an emphasis on activities that model the pedagogy of ESE in classrooms and community settings. We hope to offer a variety of interactive workshops that will address the learning needs of novice teachers from primary through to the secondary levels. Ninety minute workshops (of approximately 20-30 participants) could involve hands-on activities, sample teaching/learning resources, teaching/program guidelines, and/or critical discussions about various approaches to environmental and sustainability themes.
This one day conference is taking place on Friday January 11, 2013 at OISE (252 Bloor St. West) in Toronto. The day will begin with a keynote address at 9am, with workshops happening from 10.15-11.45am and then again from 12.45-2.15pm. We’re aiming to have a team of secondary level Eco-Team students finish the day with a presentation on their important work.
