Take Back Mother's Day!!!

Dear friends of Inter Pares,

We're asking for your help! There are still too many Canadians who think that Mother's Day is a gimmick cooked up by greeting card companies and florists, and who don’t know about the activist roots of this holiday. Many of them would be happy to celebrate the mothers and other women in their lives who are making a difference, in a way that supports other women making a difference around the world. If only they knew how….

That's where you come in. The best way to spread the word about Inter Pares' Take Back the Day campaign is by making a gift at www.takebacktheday.ca and sending e-cards far and wide – each gift gives you ten cards. (You can personalize your e-cards by adding your own photo, too.) Your gift will support the women and organizations who are continuing the real Mother’s Day legacy by building healthier, peaceful, and equitable societies internationally.

By making a gift and spreading the word, you'll help us reach folks that we don't know, but who share our social justice values. By encouraging them to make a gift and send their own e-cards, the movement will grow as the ripples of our campaign reach farther.

You can also spread the word by sharing our video, "Mother's Day: The Takeover, " on YouTube. For those of you on social networking sites, you can become a fan of the campaign's Facebook page, share through bookmarking sites, or post the video to your profile. Visit “spread the word” on www.takebacktheday.ca for more.

Take back Mother's Day from the throes of commercialism, and celebrate it the way her-story intended: with a little peace and justice.

In solidarity,
