Cedarus deodora wood, steam distilled, from the Indian Himalayas.

Aroma: Cedarwood Himalayan has a dry - woody aroma, slightly camphoraceous, smoky, balsamic, very subtle with a hint of spice. In a perfume blend cedarwood's scent starts out to be mild and pleasant, with a slight sweetness. As it dries out it gets woodier, and less balsamic.

History: Also called Tibetan Cedarwood, it is the eastern equivalent of frankincense in uniting mind and body in preparation for meditation and prayer. The ancient Egyptians used this oil in embalming, cosmetics and perfumery.

Common Uses: Antiseptic, anti putrescent, antiseborrheic, aphrodesiac, astringent, diuretic, expectorant, fungicidal, mucilytic, sedative (nervous), stimulant (circulatory), tonic. In India, Himalayan Cedarwood oil has been shown to possess insecticidal and antifungal properties and to have some potential for control of fungal deterioration of spices during storage. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Cedarwood oil fortifies and strengthens the body's Qi-energy. It may be used for general tiredness, nervousness, lower backache and poor concentration. For skin and hair care, cedarwood improves oily skin, acne, dandruff and oily scalp.
