Did you know that most canned foods come with a dose of BPA, a toxic chemical linked to breast cancer and hormone disruption?
But here’s the good news. Last week, our partners at the Breast Cancer Fund and Silent Spring Institute released a study showing that families decreased the amount of BPA in their bodies by an average of 60 percent when they eliminated canned foods and used BPA-free food containers like glass.
This study shows that getting this toxic chemical out of food packaging can make a dramatic difference in people’s BPA exposure. It's a no-brainer: get BPA out of food, get BPA out of people. So let’s start by getting it out of cans!
Ask America’s top canned food makers Campbell Soup Co., Del Monte Foods, and General Mills (maker of Progresso & Cascadian Farm) to get BPA out of their food packaging and out of our bodies.

Seeking out products from the few companies now using BPA-free can liners like Hain Celestial, Westbrae Natural, Hunt’s, Healthy Choice and H.J. Heinz
Buying foods packaged in glass or stainless steel
Using glass containers instead of plastic for food storage
Avoiding microwaving plastic
