Extraction Method: I shredded 15 lbs of certified organic oddly shaped carrots from Filsinger's Farm, dehydrated them thoroughly until they were crispy, then stuffed and weighed them into glass jars. Then I weighed and filled the jars with local Certified Organic sunflower oil and let these soak in a dark cool cupboard for a minimum of 6 weeks. This gives a sunny orange-coloured light oil rich in healing and nourishing carotenoids.
Aroma: Carrot has a very slight scent that is sweet and very carrot-like.
Common Uses: Carrot Oil is very high in both vitamins and minerals. Carrot is often used in combination with other carrier oils - predominantly for the colour and nutrients. I use carrot root oil as a nourishing and skin healing ingredient in lip balms, skin creams and shampoos.
Shelf life: Carrot oil is slow to go rancid; users can expect a shelf life of 6 Months to 1 Year with proper storage conditions (cool, out of direct sunlight). Refrigeration after opening is recommended.
