Aroma: Rice bran has very little scent characteristic of most carrier oils

Common Uses: Rice bran oil has a high percentage of fatty acids and unsaponifiables and is one of the best sources of tocotrienols, an antioxidant that may be much more powerful and effective than Vitamin E. A mild oil perfect for dry/flaky, sensitive, mature and/or delicate skin (e.g. baby), where additional moisturization is required and is effective for keeping skin smooth.

Rice bran oil contains a compound called gamma-oryzanol, a component that can impede the progress of melanin pigmentation by restoring the erythema activity of the tyrosinase enzyme as it intercepts the UV rays at the skin’s surface, hindering UV ray transmission. As such, rice bran oil is used in many types of skin and hair sunscreen products and is incorporated into shampoos, conditioners and special hair treatments where it adds sheen while moisturizing and conditioning the hair without weighing it down. It is even used in lipsticks providing lip conditioning and strong mould stability, and in nail polishes to provide smooth spreadability.

#1 traceytf : super tightening effect

Hi Tracey,

Some interesting anecdotal news about RBO...

I read about the super tightening effect by some users and thought I would give it a try as my sole facial moisturizer for a bit and see. It's only been six days now and I have noticed two other improvements in my skin:

1) My mild rosacea is evening out. I still have some redness on my nose and chin but so far my cheeks are looking pretty normal. Infact my skin tone is evening out nicely!

2) I have had little bumps on my forhead for a long time. As far as I can tell they have been eliminated. This makes me wonder if I have some reaction to waxes in lotions or creams all this time.

I feel confident enough to relate these two things to the RBO and have not changed any other factors in my life.

Interesting to note. I will continue with the RBO for now. Thought I would share.
